Freshman Brooke Peterson earned a national qualifying mark in the Pole Vault with a mark of 3.67 meters (12-feet, 0.50-inches) while sophomore Jessica Bright-Schade set a national qualifying mark in the Javelin at 38.47 meters (126-feet, 2-inches) at the GCU Invitational.

Freshman Trinity Bethea broke the Pima school record in the 400 meters (58.88) while sophomore Jackie Trice earned an Indoor and Outdoor national qualifier in the Long Jump (5.63 meters, 18-feet, 5.75-inches) and an Indoor qualifier in the Pentathlon (2667 points). Sophomore Candice Pocase earned her national qualifier in the Pole Vault (3.00 meters, 9-10).

The Aztecs opened the 2023 season with six national qualifying marks at the Chapman Automotive Aztec Indoor Invitational on Saturday. Sophomore Tristan Spalding (left) broke a Pima school record in the 60-meter race (6.84) and earned a national qualifier in the 400 meters (48.35). Freshman Brooke Peterson earned a national qualifier in the Pole Vault (3.00 meters, 9-feet, 10-inches) and sophomore Orion Barger broke the school record and secured a national qualifier in the 600-meter race (1:18.96).

The Aztecs women's track & field team took the runner-up trophy at the NJCAA Region I Championships on Thursday at Mesa. Eliza Littlewood (holding the plaque) took home two region titles in the Heptathlon and the High Jump as she scored a team-high 52 points.

The Aztecs Men's Track & Field took third place in the final team standings and claimed two NJCAA Region I titles. The Aztecs took home six region crowns total. The Aztecs men's track & field team added two more Region I champions as sophomore Emmanuel Corral (Pusch Ridge Christian HS) won the 3,000 meter steeplechase (9:37.86) and sophomore Donovan Henderson took first in the Long Jump at 7.01 meters (23-0). The Aztecs sit in second place with 87 points heading into Thursday's final day.

Sophomore Eliza Littlewood (Campo Verde HS) claimed her second Heptathlon title on Tuesday at the NJCAA Region I Multi-Event Championships. She set personal-records in six of the seven events and took first place in the Long Jump. The Aztecs secured 21 team points for the Aztecs for the NJCAA Region I Championships next week in Mesa.

Freshman Joshua Bowen was the top finisher for the Aztecs as he placed third in the Decathlon with a total of 5143 points. The Aztecs gained nine team points that will carry over into next week's NJCAA Region I Championships.
