Freshman Lina Kassimatis finished in double figures with 10 kills as the Aztecs volleyball team rallied twice to beat Mesa Community College in the fifth-set tiebreaker (23-25, 25-23, 15-25, 25-22, 15-7). The Aztecs improved to 14-9 overall and 9-4 in ACCAC conference play. The Aztecs close out the regular season next week with two home matches.

Sophomore Jessica Bright-Schade (Safford HS) finished with a double-double of 10 kills and 11 digs as the Aztecs volleyball team earned a sweep at Phoenix College 25-22, 25-23, 27-25. The Aztecs are now 12-9 overall and 7-4 in ACCAC conference play.

Sophomore Andrea Vigil-German (Ironwood Ridge HS) finished with a double-double of 10 kills and 16 digs but the Aztecs volleyball team fell in four sets to Arizona Western College (25-27, 25-13, 25-20, 28-26). The Aztecs are now 11-9 overall and 6-4 in ACCAC conference play. They play at Phoenix College on Wednesday.

The volleyball team hits the road for an ACCAC conference match at South Mountain Community College on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.

The Aztecs volleyball team claimed the NJCAA Region I, Division II tournament runner-up plaque after falling to Scottsdale Community College in straight sets. The Aztecs finished the 2019 season at 15-14 overall. This is the third time in six years the Aztecs have claimed the runner-up trophy.

Sophomore Jade Romine (Canyon del Oro HS) had two double-doubles on the day as the Aztecs volleyball team beat Mesa Community College and Glendale Community College to advance to the NJCAA Region I, Division II finals round for the second straight year.
