Pima women's basketball wins behind McLaughlin's double-double
The Pima Community College women’s basketball team (2-2) dropped over 100 points on Friday in a 23-point win over Utah State University-Eastern in Salt Lake, Utah.
The Aztecs built a 53-39 lead at the break and won the second half scoring as well at 52-43 as they rolled to a 105-82 victory.
Melody McLaughlin (Marana Mountain View HS) had the hot hand for the Aztecs, scoring 22 points on 10 for 14 shooting from the field. She also had 18 rebounds. Holly Bolen (Tucson Magnet HS) went 3 for 5 from three-point range and finished with 17 points and eight rebounds. Alicia Jones (Palo Verde HS) also scored in double figures with 10 points. Felicia Foster (Peoria HS) had a rough shooting night, going 1 for 9 from the field but contributed with eight assists to go along with four points.
“We’ve challenged the girls with a tough schedule and to be 2-2 at this point is huge going forward,” Pima coach Todd Holthaus said.
The Aztecs will finish their Utah road trip against the College of Southern Utah on Saturday at noon.
