The University of Arizona soccer team defeated the University of Denver 3-0 on Friday night in Tempe. Arizona's goals came from Lexe Selman-Richards, Paige Crouch and Gabi Stoian. The Wildcats outshot the Pioneers 21-1 and had 11 shots on goal as opposed to Denver's one. Denver's first shot did not come until the 71st minute.
"We had a really good team performance tonight," said head coach Tony Amato. "I was really proud of how every player was focused, energized, and ready to play. I felt that in the pregame and we saw it in how we started the match. It will be important to replicate that approach on Sunday."
On the other side
In the evening's other game, ASU defeated Columbia 3-0 on goals from FC Tucson's Larissa Staub, Madison Kmetko and Jazmarie Mader. The Wildcats will take on Columbia on Sunday at 11 a.m., also in Tempe.
