Cooper's passing highlights shutout win for Pima men's soccer

The Pima Community College men’s soccer team (1-0, 1-0) opened the 2017 season with a hard-fought victory on Tuesday at the Kino North Grandstand.

The No. 13 ranked Aztecs overcame nine corner-kick opportunities to shut out Paradise Valley Community College 2-0.

The Aztecs got on the board early when freshman Brian Chumacera (Sunnyside HS) scored in the 5th minute with an assist from sophomore Chris Cooper (University HS). 

Cooper helped set-up sophomore Tatsuma Yuki in his goal that helped seal it for the Aztecs in the 81st minute.

The Aztecs outshot the Pumas 11-5 for the game and freshman goalkeeper David Silva finished with five saves.

The Aztecs will play at South Mountain Community College on Saturday in Phoenix. Game time is set for 12:30 p.m.
