Padres' homers fly over Redbirds

The Tucson Padres hit four home runs Friday and beat the Memphis Redbirds, 8-2.

Pedro Feliz hit a deep fly ball to left field in the second inning and when Shane Robinson tried to make a leaping catch at the wall, the ball hit Robinson's glove and flew over the fence. Feliz went 2-for-4 with the home run and two RBIs in his Padres debut.

Drew Macias later hit a line drive home run to right and Anthony Rizzo went deep as part of a 2-for-3 night where he also had two walks. Former Memphis Redbird Jarrett Hoffpauir also hit a home run in the Padres' victory.

Tucson starter Jon Leicester pitched well, allowing just two runs in six innings of work. Greg Burke struck out two Memphis hitters in two scoreless innings of relief and Luis Perdomo pitched a scoreless inning in a non-save situation.

The Padres are looking to play spoiler on this road trip. Both Memphis (5.5 games back) and Nashville (5 games back) are contending in the American Conference North Division.

Tim Hagerty is the play-by-play announcer for the Tucson Padres.
