O'Sullivan pitches Padres to 4-2 win

Sean O'Sullivan pitched 7.2 innings and allowed only two runs in leading the Tucson Padres to a 4-2 win over the Reno Aces on Monday at Aces Ballpark.

Mike Jacobs led off the bottom of the second with his ninth home run of the year to put Reno ahead 1-0. It was Jacobs' second homer of the season against O'Sullivan. Tuffy Gosewisch extended the lead to 2-0 in the fourth with a two-out RBI single to right. Tyler Skaggs held the Padres hitless until the top of the fifth when Chris Robinson and Jesus Merchan both reached base on a bunt singles.

After Gregorio Petit's RBI single brought around the first Tucson run in the top of the sixth, Cody Decker followed by hitting a three-run home run to give the Padres a 4-2 lead. The home run was Decker's team-leading tenth of the season. Kevin Quackenbush pitched a scoreless ninth to seal the win and record his first Triple-A save.

O'Sullivan (7-4) picked up his third win against Reno this season after scattering six hits and one walk while punching out seven. Skaggs (5-6) surrendered five hits, four runs and four walks in his sixth loss of the year. J.J. Putz started the game for Reno and pitched a scoreless inning in an injury rehab outing for the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Tim Hagerty is the play-by-play announcer for the Tucson Padres.
