Wilson's 3-for-4 helps Padres to 8-2 win
Mike Wilson went 3-for-4 with two home runs and six RBIs to power the Tucson Padres to an 8-2 win over the Reno Aces Sunday at Aces Ballpark. The two-homer game was the third for a Tucson player this season and Wilson's six RBIs were the most since Matt Clark accomplished the feat Aug. 4, 2012 in Round Rock.
The Padres scored first for the first time in five games thanks to Wilson's two-run home run in the first inning. Jaff Decker added to lead in the top of the second with a two-out RBI single to score Rene Rivera. Reno jumped on the board in the bottom of the second on Ed Easley's RBI double to right. Alfredo Marte's RBI single in the fourth cut Tucson's lead to one run.
The Padres got a run back in the fifth coming from Wilson's RBI double off the left-field wall. Wilson's final home run of the game came in the seventh when he launched a three-run shot over the advertisements high above the left-field fence. Tucson went up 8-2 in the eighth after Dean Anna hit an RBI single to help extend his hitting streak to eleven games.
Burch Smith earned his third win after allowing two runs on six hits in 6.2 innings. Smith struck out five and walked one. Garrett Mock, who was making a spot start for Reno, lost his fourth game after surrendering four runs, six hits and four walks in 4.2 innings.
