UA softballers named All-Americans

Three University of Arizona softball players were named All-Americans on Wednesday.

Brittany Lastrapes, senior left-fielder, became the sixth four-time All-American in program history. Lastrapes was named to the first team, finishing the season with a .399 batting average and a team record of 66 career doubles.

Freshman Kenzie Fowler, a previous first-team All-American, was named to the second team this year after missing six games due to a concussion. Fowler, the team's pitcher, struck out 243 batters this season, earning an ERA of 1.87.

Brigette DelPonte, sophomore third baseman, was named to the second team, finishing with 17 home runs and 59 RBIs.

The team took a 43-18 record into the NCAA Super Regional last week, but failed to advance to the Women's College World Series for the 23rd time in 24 years.

Arizona has had at least two All-Americans every year since 1990.
