FC Tucson is hoping to right the ship on Saturday night in a match against North Carolina FC at Kino North Stadium.
The team will be without forward Louis Pérez, who is suspended after a red card in last week’s collapse against Tormenta FC. Defender Kaelon Fox came in late in the match after a long recovery from injury. Fox is expected to start the match, which team staff believes will help steady the back line.
North Carolina has had a poor a season so far as FC Tucson has. After starting off with a win against Tormenta, they followed with two losses and a draw.
Despite the bad start, North Carolina can boast of two players named Nelson, defender Nelson Flores Blanco and midfielder Nelson Martínez, who got a call up to the El Salvador national team for a match against Panama in Cary, N. C. on May 1. Blanco got a start, while Martínez was on the bench.
Since the season is only five matches in, a win by FC Tucson could catapult them as many as six places up the table.
The match starts at 7 p.m. It will be Teacher Appreciation Night.
