No. 18 Lady Aztecs beat Arizona Western for 7th straight win
The Pima Community College women’s basketball team (18-11, 13-7 in conference) dominated its second meeting of the season against Arizona Western College on Tuesday at the West Campus, winning 72-58 on Sophomore Night.
The Lady Aztecs lost to Division I’s Arizona Western in Yuma 60-55 in overtime last month.
This time, the No. 18 Lady Aztecs led 40-23 at halftime and opened the second half going on a 15-3 run in five minutes to take a 55-26 lead. Arizona Western cut Pima’s lead to 15 points late in the second half.
Rachel Williams (Cesar Chavez HS) led the way for the Lady Aztecs with 16 points. Alicia Jones (Palo Verde HS) scored 15 points while Felicia Foster (Peoria HS) contributed with 10 points.
Sophomores Williams, Foster, Raja Moreno-Ross (Tucson Magnet HS), Holly Bolen (Tucson Magnet HS) and Shayna Porter-Banks were recognized at the game.
The Lady Aztecs will close out the regular season at Glendale Community College on Friday at 5:30 p.m. They have secured the No. 2 seed in the Region I, Division II Tournament.
