FC Tucson squad to debut at Ft. Lowell Shootout
Newly promoted team has 2012 unveiling at youth tournament
FC Tucson will make its first public appearance of 2012 at this weekend's Ft. Lowell Shootout.
The team has been having open tryouts and announced a "scrimmage roster" Thursday morning.
The players include some names that are recognizable from last season, like midfielder C. J. Kaufmann, Pima College players like Declan Fulton, and surprises like 18-year old Phoenician Shye Ozalvo. The roster also includes Phillipe Garre, who has received looks from Major League Soccer teams and is reporting to camp later this month for the second division San Jose Scorpions.
The roster is for Saturday's inter-squad scrimmage that will be at Fort Lowell Park on Saturday at 8:30 p.m.
This also is expected to be the core of the team that will be scrimmaging against New England Revolution, San Jose Earthquakes and Sporting Kansas City during their pre-season stays in Southern Arizona. They'd also play against the reserve squads of teams coming for the Desert Diamond Cup late next month. FC Tucson will likely be adding players invited from around the country for those games.
