Freshman first-baseman Alejandra Castro was selected the Chapman Automotive Aztecs Student-Athlete of the Week on Tuesday for the week of May 2-8. She hit four homers with nine RBIs and eight runs scored. Castro maintains a 3.0-3.5 GPA range and helps tutor teammates in Spanish. She also volunteered for Habitat for Humanity and Love of Reading.

Aztecs Women's Golfers Angelica Martinez (Tucson Magnet HS) and Maria Harrouch tied off today in the NJCAA Division I National Championships in Sanford, FL. Harrouch sits tied for fifth place after she shot a 4-over par 76 while Martinez finished with a 92 and sits tied for 68th in the standings.

Aztecs softball sophomores Faith Orton (Amphitheater HS) and Kelli Samorano (Tucson Magnet HS) were named Third Team All-ACCAC. Orton batted .337 with 14 runs, nine extra-base hits, 31 RBIs and six walks while Samorano batted .357 with 20 runs, 10 extra-base hits, 20 RBIs and 10 walks. The Aztecs compete in the NJCAA Region I, Division I Tournament on Friday and Saturday in Prescott, AZ.

The Aztecs softball team recognized their four sophomores after Pima closed out the regular season by sweeping Glendale Community College 14-6 and 9-1 in two run-rule victories. The Aztecs closed the regular season at 21-23 overall and in ACCAC conference play. Pima Women's Basketball assistant coach Tim Larsen was named the head coach of Eastern Wyoming College, an NJCAA Division I program in Torrington, WY. He spent two years with the Aztecs and was previously the women's basketball head coach at Tohono O'odham Community College.

The Aztecs women's track & field team took the runner-up trophy at the NJCAA Region I Championships on Thursday at Mesa. Eliza Littlewood (holding the plaque) took home two region titles in the Heptathlon and the High Jump as she scored a team-high 52 points.

The Aztecs men's track & field team added two more Region I champions as sophomore Emmanuel Corral (Pusch Ridge Christian HS) won the 3,000 meter steeplechase (9:37.86) and sophomore Donovan Henderson took first in the Long Jump at 7.01 meters (23-0). The Aztecs sit in second place with 87 points heading into Thursday's final day.

The Aztecs Men's Golf team captured the program's sixth NJCAA Region I, Division I Championship on Sunday at the Corte Bella Golf Course in Sun City West; the first for head coach Marcus Smith. The Aztecs took five of the seven spots in the All-Region Team. The Aztecs baseball team closed out the 2022 season on Saturday after sweeping Eastern Arizona College 3-2 and 10-3. The Aztecs produced the most wins in program history at 38-18 since the 1991 season (41 wins). Pima also finished with a 27-4 record at the West Campus Aztec Baseball Field.

Freshman Mia Casadei (Tanque Verde HS) finished the day going 2 for 5 with two RBIs and a run scored but the Aztecs softball team fell at South Mountain Community College 14-10 and 9-1. The Aztecs are 17-23 overall and in ACCAC conference play. The Aztecs clinched the No. 4 seed in the NJCAA Region I, Division I Tournament being held on May 13-14 in Prescott. Pima has four regular season games remaining.

Pima Women's Golf freshman Angelica Martinez (Tucson Magnet HS) earned an at-large bid to compete at the NJCAA Division I National Championships from May 9-12 at the Mayfair Country Club in Sanford, FL. She will represent the Aztecs alongside fellow freshman Maria Harrouch.

Sophomore Eliza Littlewood (Campo Verde HS) claimed her second Heptathlon title on Tuesday at the NJCAA Region I Multi-Event Championships. She set personal-records in six of the seven events and took first place in the Long Jump. The Aztecs secured 21 team points for the Aztecs for the NJCAA Region I Championships next week in Mesa.
