Born and raised on cattle ranches in rural California and, after age 12, Southern Oregon, I achieved a goal of many years when my wife and I moved to Tucson in 1997. While writing and editing have been my primary occupations, I’ve worked as a carpenter and a cowboy, and over the past 12 years developed my enthusiasm for trails and sustainable trail design into a career that I work around the writing and editing. When I’m out in the field doing trail work I have the best office in the world!
