Last year, the Pentagon appointed Gen. Keith Alexander to run the U.S. Cyber Command division, responsible for the defense of American military computer networks, as well as offensive measures against opposing forces.

Although it habitually denies its involvement in cyberattacks, there is abundant evidence that China is a major force in the areas of cyber espionage and warfare.
