Soros: Weed is good

Billionaire investor George Soros has donated $1 million in support of California's Proposition 19, which would legalize the sale and use of marijuana, and permit the government to collect taxes on marijuana-related transactions.

Soros has long supported more liberal drug laws, and his contribution tripled the amount of money the pro-legalization advocates have to spend during the campaign's final week.

In the past, Soros has been a donor to the Marijuana Policy Project, which is a major funder of the Arizona Medical Marijuana Project (MPP's spokesman, Mike Meno, tells us that Soros "hasn't donated at all for many years" to the group). The Arizona group is advocating for Proposition 203, which would allow patients in Arizona to obtain marijuana to treat specific medical conditions.
