Thank you, Councilman Kozachik, for long taking the lead on drawing attention to how the criminal justice system is plagued by racial bias, and falls heaviest on poor people, mentally ill people, and people of color…Wait. Never mind.
While I kinda get where you are coming from, Joel, this really is not the subject of this particular column. In effect you are saying Kozachik cannot ever speak on any other subject while inequities in the criminal justice system persist.
If what you are saying is that Kozachik has failed to speak out on the injustices you identify when he has been called upon to do so, or in the face of specific incidents analogous to the incident he is talking about here, it would be more effective for you to cite those occasions.
After a brief review of what TPD presented to her office, the County Attorney’s Office dropped the case.
