It’s already late September and as of this writing I’ve suffered through over 6 weeks of being a remote-learning teacher and parent and excuse me for a moment while I down this shot of whiskey and chew some Tylenol.... Read more»

Commentors are solely responsible for the opinions they express and the accuracy of the information they provide. Users who violate these standards may lose their privileges on TucsonSentinel.com.
Sentinel editors can't read every comment. Trolls, spammers and other troublemakers can slide under the bridge. We rely on you to help maintain a healthy conversation - more than likely, you're reading these comments before the editors.
What if you see something inappropriate? Use the 'Flag' button to send it to a moderation queue. Help us out and tell us why you're reporting it; please don't report someone just because you disagree with them. Boy who cried wolf and all that. We'll take appropriate action on violations.
We will not edit comments to alter their meaning or censor comments because of political content.
We will not remove comments solely because they are heartless, cruel, coarse, foolish or just plain wrong. Your disapproval can maintain a decent signal to noise ratio. Ultimately, however, self-policing is the best method.
Bottom line, don't be a jerk.

Your complaints are valid and well written! If anyone wondered about the challenges of remote instruction for young children, they should understand now!
My niece does remote instruction with 1st graders in a different school district in a different state. It was easier last year when her 1st graders had already been in school long enough to have developed more skills and were used to 1st grade! This year everything is harder! Both this year and last year, she stays up very late every night to get ready for the next day. Remote instruction is difficult.
She’s more successful with her 1st graders because she has better tools than TUSD provides. She can see and acess the screens of every one of her students. TUSD’s teachers cannot. They are literally flying blind. She also has engaging software she was already using pre-Covid.
You may want to check out Khan Academy software and see if some of their software engages your son. They’re a remarkable nonprofit that provides free educational software. Unfortunately, one of her other favorite sources of engaging software isn’t available to parents.,
I wish you and your son the best!
