GOP Council candidates need to up fundraising ahead of looming deadline

Republicans face 4-1 disadvantage in campaign cash

The GOP aspirants have $16,715 cash on hand. Which ones? All of them. Together. Lawton, challenging Cunningham in Ward 2, has $7,962 in the bank. Burkholder, vying for Scott's Ward 4 seat, has $4,559. Hunt, pursuing Romero's seat in Ward 1, is sitting on $4,194. At this rate, they'll be fierce contenders by 2019.

Another excellent write up by Blake, leaving all other coverage of the council race (The WeAkly, The Az Dark Star) in the dust.  Like his analysis of the bus strike, he knows his shit, takes aim, fires and hits.
United Fucking Kingdom indeed.
Gracias.

I like Morlock, but I think he grossly overestimates the Tucson electorate. Without knowing the guy, my best guess is he does so so that he can pat himself on the back for his days with the Democratic Party, saying “see, we did a good job getting candidates elected” when the only thing you have to do to get a candidate elected in this town is put their name on the DEM line on the ballot.

Shirley Scott could run over puppies with a riding lawnmower and still get reelected, because the electorate here would never learn of the mower incident because they just don’t want to educate themselves to the issues or candidates.

This region demonstrates the absolute worst of democracy, and has for countless election cycles now. I’m not expecting them to do any better this time around.
