Does immigration decrease crime? Check the stats

What if America’s drop in crime was caused in part by… immigration? What if the presence of immigrants in a community not only did not increase crime but actually helped decrease it?

What an interesting possibility- so in the face of tea party and xenophobic fear-mongers. The Brookings Institution is known as a non-partisan think tank; called at various times: non-partisan, liberal, centrist, and conservation- due to its fact-findings, which are divorced from political stance.

the Brookings Inst quote is Foreign born and hispanic.  It says nothing about being an illegal foreign born & hispanic. I can only assume they are referring to legal immigrants, not illegal. So…..to draw any conclusion that illegal immigrants decrease crime is absurd. Tell that to the az. border patrol agent recently gunned down, or the Az rancher killed, or the children sexually abused . To confuse xenophobia and fear mongering with law enforcement and protection of U.S. citizens is also absurd. Statistics don’t bleed.

mr.Hart, please go back and rview the mission statement of the Morrison Institute. as one of its senior policy analysts you should really know better than to take statistics and twist them into a slanted argument suggesting that perhaps illegal immigration could possibly decrease crime in the U.S. Bad move billy. The populace is more intelligent than you might think.
