Marco Rubio: Immigration reform bill almost 'ready to go'

Republican Sen. Marco Rubio said on Sunday that 95 percent of the comprehensive immigration reform bill is "ready to go" but he is still pushing for more border security measures.

Rubio dismissed concerns from conservative critics that he's been too soft on immigration and was manipulated by Democrats in the group steering the legislation.

"I think it's an excellent starting point, and I think 95, 96 percent of the bill is in perfect shape and ready to go," he told ABC's This Week about the bill.

"But there are elements that need to be improved."

There were concerns that Rubio, a member of the 'Gang of Eight' group which drafted the legislation, could walk away from the negotiations over the criticism.

Rubio deflected those concerns on Sunday.

"I recognize there is a division among conservatives about [immigration reform.] I respect other people's views on it," Rubio added.

"I understand why they are frustrated by it. I just hope people understand that the reason why I've undertaken this is because this is a major problem that's hurting our country."

The Florida lawmaker said he wanted the final version of the bill to include strong measures on border security to prevent future waves of illegal immigration.

"If we do that, this bill will have strong bipartisan support," Rubio said.

"If we fail, we're going to keep trying, because at the end of the day, the only way we're going to pass an immigration reform law out of the House and Senate so the president can sign it is, that it has real border security measures within it."

The bill currently being debated in the Senate would provide a 13-year path to citizenship for 11 million illegal immigrants. A provision to include immigration benefits for same-sex partners was withdrawn after a public battle between conservatives and liberals.

Sen. Lindsey Graham, another Republican member of the bipartisan "Gang of Eight"  was upbeat Sunday about its prospects for passage.

"I think we are going to get plus 70 votes" in the Senate, said Graham.

The South Carolina lawmaker predicted a "political breakthrough, that Congress is going to pass immigration reform."

SEN. LINDSEY GRAHAM IS PROBABLY RIGHT ABOUT LOSING IN FUTURE ELECTIONS,, BUT ONLY BECAUSE UNKNOWN NUMBERS OF NON-CITIZENS VOTED ILLEGALLY IN THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION, SOTHAT’S WHY HONEST AMERICANS NEED TO DEMAND A NATIONAL ID CARD?

Has any taxpayers ever thought that the reason citizens and legal residents births are down, is that they cannot afford the expense. While female migrants and immigrants and low income, give phony information to the hospital authorities and receive pre and post natal care for free, plus all the other welfare programs. Citizens and legal residents cannot normally follow this route, as they are expected to proffer a Social Security card, driver’s license and other identification and then are haunted by debt collectors and attorneys to pay up.

They’re not going to slip anything past American People as in 1986.  Although with the Senate advancing the Gang of Eight immigration bill to the floor we’ve got serious work to do? New York Senator Chuck Schumer thinks “Illegal immigration will be a thing of the past!” His bill is going to solve it all? Well, I’ve got news Schumer: No, it’s not. By dismissing the majority of the major TRIGGERS, S.477 is worse than law signed into action 27 years ago. Folks we need to slam DC with a “NO AMNESTY FOR ILLEGALS! DOWN WITH THIS DE FACTO AMNESTY BILL!” Contact by phone Senators and the House Representatives, either State or Federal at toll-free—1-888-978-3094—or you may phone the United States Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121. A terminal operator will connect you directly with the Senate office or just about anybody in Congress you request. A few well-meaning Senators who can be trusted are Sen. Jeff Sessions of Alabama, Senate Minority Whip John Cornyn, Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas, Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky, Sen. Coats and a few more, who are heading the list that are fighting for American sovereignty and our rights. IT’S CRITICALLY IMPORTANT THAT EVERYBODY INTERESTED IN THE ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION REFORM OR A DE FACTO AMNESTY, ALL CITIZENS AND PERMANENT RESIDENTS SHOULD READ THE REPORTS IN JUDICIAL WATCH WEB SITE.

33 million new illegal’s on our backs, digging into welfare, food stamps and social security as they overrun our schools, hospitals and jails will be a death sentence to America. Our borders need to be locked down tight—despite Sen. Schumer dismissing border security as “not pressing.” He ought to be thrown out.

NO COPYRIGHT! PASS ALONG.

Sens. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.), John Cornyn (R-Texas) and Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) have said the bill is comparable to the last immigration reform measure in 1986 because it “legalizes first and enforces later.” It was a catastrophe for working Americans who at this current time to some extent are still in competition with 3to 5 million who claimed legal status in 1986.  With the inception of the Senate bill S.477 11 million or even considerably more will be plying for work. Texas Republican Sen. John Cornyn includes in his immigration overhaul, a biometric entry/exit system to prevent visa overstays that tend to be 45 percent of illegal immigrants. To me it makes absolute sense that anybody who overstays an expired visa, unless there are mitigating circumstances and as with illegal migrants crossing the border, should be prosecuted with a felony. That will dampen anybodies enthusiasm to come here without a visa, but then you must ask yourself why this case isn’t?

It’s obvious to me that the politicians are in the deep pockets of Special Interests, who had more say that if you want large donations for your reelection or more such as suspicious brown bag payments. A large majority of lawmakers in Washington or the state assemblies are corrupt and pay no attention to the wants of the American people. That is easily illustrated by the underhand programs that are passed on to illegal aliens and not to hurting Americans. Through quasi citizenship children that are dragged into America thus supplementing an “under the table” wages of those illegal aliens living in shadows; brought upon themselves by the magnet of jobs advocated by innocuous employers to enhance profits. That proofs to me that of our borders, airports and other entry ports had deliberate loopholes to undermine vital enforcement. It’s about time that a mandated E-Verify system is made fully operational, as employers have taken advantage for decades of foreigners and now they will have no choice but to authenticate the workers.

MY THOUGHTS ON E-VERIFY IS WHY NOT GO THE WHOLE WAY, AND ISSUE A NATIONAL BIOMETRIC ID CARD? WITH THE INNOVATIONS TODAY IT COULD BE A COUNTERFEIT PROOF ID AND AS A PERSONAL IDENTIFICATION, COULD BE A 100 PERCENT SAFE.  IT WOULD BE STATE OF THE ART DIGITAL SOCIAL SECURITY CARD THAT COULD PROVE WHO YOU ARE IN AN INSTANT WHEN SWIPING IT? HOOKED UP TO A NATIONAL DATA BASE, ITS IMMEDIATE ADVANTAGE IS HIRING YOU FOR A JOB, NOT AN UNAUTHORIZED WORKER. AS FURTHER FOR NATIONAL SECURITY TOOL, IT COULD BE USED FOR VOTING AND GUARANTEES AGAINST CREDIT CARD THEFT, WHICH CAUSES TERRIBLE BUREAUCRATIC CHAOS FOR THE VICTIM.

SEN.GRAHAM! AT LEAST CONSERVATIVES HAVE PRINCIPLES, UNLIKE THIS ADMINISTRATION THAT HAS TRODDEN THE U.S. CONSTITUTIONAL LAW INTO THE MUD.

PANDERING TO ILLEGAL ALIENS AND SPECIAL INTERESTS, WILL BE INSTANTLY REMEMBERED, WHEN IT’S TIME FOR REELECTION.

Without secure enforcement at the southern border fence, the American People will not endorse any form of immigration reform. They have been deviously been promised before by some of the most powerful politicians, going back to 1986. The American People do not trust any political party Government, as we have been lied to so many times. The corruption has spread like a toxic mold through these administrations chambers, from representatives of the special interest lobby that converge on offices, concealed and be aware of “Greeks bearing gifts”.  The promised double layer fence stretching 700 miles was condemned to die, by one amendment introduced by Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchinson.  This time there must be no mistake that if any kind of immigration reform is to be enacted, the designs of the 2006 Secure Fence must be installed, BEFORE any illegal alien can claim a right to receive legal status.

THOSE TWO FENCES MUST GO UP.

A conceited and insolent civil servant as Homeland Security Secretary Napolitano must have no say in when the first 350 miles of parallel fencing is completed, that will be a token of proof to the nation’s populace? AND that ONLY the full Congress can approve that this project is accomplished? Only when this construction is observed and approved by Congress should any illegal alien. As U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) stated “I know it’s hard to do, but I refuse to accept the idea that the most power country in the world — the country that put a man on the moon — is incapable of securing our border.”  We even assisted Israel to build a sturdy barrier in keep out murderous terrorists, who attack them all the time.

Sorry, we missed your input...
