Bankers behaving badly: London's 'sex limos'
Strip club reportedly raided because bankers were paying $1,400 for threesomes in a limo
Paging Brett Easton Ellis.
In a story that recalls the bleary-eyed, sex-and-drug-fueled boomtimes of the 1980s, a popular London strip club has reportedly been raided and shut down after a two-month investigation by the city's police "vice squad" found that bankers had been paying almost $1,400 for threesomes in a stretch limo, the Sun reported.
Here's how Business Insider put it:
Whites Gentleman's Club offered a service in which people could hire a white limo for sight-seeing tours around London. When the tour began, clients were offered "full sex with two busty hookers and champagne while on board," the Sun reported. Inside the club, wealthy visitors—who had already spent big on lap dances—were offered sex for about $1,000. The manager of the club was arrested "on suspicion of controlling prostitution." Bankers, sportsmen and TV hosts make up much of the clientele at the strip joint.
Here are more details from the Sun's story:
Detective Inspector Kevin Hyland, of Scotland Yard's Trafficking and Prostitution Unit, said: "Premises that operate in London as gentlemen's clubs need to be sure that they comply with the strict rules that are required of them."
A police spokesman added: "Detectives have carried out an operation at an East End club following allegations that sexual services were being offered on the premises.
"Officers from the Metropolitan Police Service's Human Exploitation and Organised Crime Command conducted searches at Whites Gentleman's Club in Leman Street and arrested a 33-year-old man on suspicion of controlling prostitution for gain and various licensing offenses.
"The operation was launched after police received intelligence that clients were being offered a variety of sexual services at the club.
"During the operation, officers spoke with women working at the club to establish what was taking place there and to see whether they required support.
"The arrested man was taken to a local police station for questioning. He has been bailed to return on 16 August."
Of course, bankers and other financial types aren't immune to this sort of behavior.
