some real facts from here/germany:
“Officially, there weren’t supposed to be any here,” Neumann says. “I was pretty angry because no one had warned us.”
1.) false: we know since 15 years that canis lupus is in return to germany especially to the east! so enough time to secure lfestock!
the reason why the wolf-recover-story is succesful in ger: we are having prey ( deer, elk and wild pigs and more ) in tons! so enough for human hunters and predators like lynx and wolves!
2.) 350 sheep in 5 years means 70 a year and most of them are killes by stray dogs.
3.) ` In recent weeks, wolves were indirectly blamed for a bloodbath on the Autobahn after a herd of frightened horses broke from their paddock and bolted onto the highway. ` FALSE: now WOLVES were responsible for that, no proof at all! accidents with horses, sheeps or cattle happens sometimes also in the past without any wolves in germany!!!!
4.)`As in U.S. states where wolves have made comebacks, such incidents have prompted calls from farmers and hunters for relaxing a ban on hunting the wild canines.` DO NOT compare USA with Europe in any kind….we do not have a war on wildlife/predators ( excluding norway, sweden, finland) from ideological reasons.
5.) `That’s exposing a rift between the rural residents who must live with wolves and urban environmentalists who love them.` the minority also in the rural areas are pro biologival diverse, more wilderness and so predators who are important…just a few lifestock breeders have problem for many reason, for example: shep breeders with stray dogs and mainly with cheaper meat from new sealand!!!!
6.) ´Germany has no agency that compares with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, which has a budget of nearly $3 billion a year to implement laws like the Endangered Species Act.` SO we are very lucky that there is no agency spending so much money for supporting the war on wildlife like in the states ( lower 48, rocky states and more, check the science based number in your country )
7.) ´States compensate livestock owners for losses from attacks with various financial packages and incentives.
But farmers say compensation for slaughtered animals is always slow to arrive. And the funds cover only concrete items such as electric fences or sheepdogs, not the additional labor required for installation or training.`
THAT is right!
FAZIT: before you go ver the border tying to write a sustainable report, do not take only a few infos to a complex situation. thx
what i forgot:
the monitoring of wolves are mainly does by hunters/hunter orgs voluntarily and also by educated predator/wolves consultants who are informing in herd protection aso. i do not think they like `poorly trained ìn relation to what the are do!
