U.S. Census: 49 million live in poverty

Number breaks record at 16% of Americans

The latest U.S. Census Bureau numbers show that 49.1 million Americans were living in poverty in 2010. This was a record breaking number, indicating 16 percent of the American population lives in poverty.

I answer all the Census questions, except for the one about color. I don’t want our country divided by color any more, so I refuse to participate in such divisions. I answered “unhyphenated American”, and I look forward to the day where all 300 million of my countrymen will do the right thing and follow suit.

The Census does not quantify what color a person may be, but rather what their ethnic identity may be.

And why does a census have to even ask ethnic identity??? How about ....How many humans live in this house. Why does the gov. need to know anything beyond that?? Oh I think I know.
