States can opt out in exchange for 'college and career-ready' standards

President Barack Obama announced on Friday that states will be allowed to opt out of some provisions in the No Child Left Behind law if they adopt his administration’s education agenda.

Thank you President Obama for asserting:

“We can’t let another generation of young people fall behind because we didn’t have the courage to recognize what doesn’t work, admit it and replace it with something that does,”

About time it was officially recognized that NCLB means that “teaching” has been the instruction of how to pass particular tests, and that in order not to “leave” any child behind, those children who are far in advance have been subjected to stultification.
