Hopefully attitudes on this issue will change before my three daughters get much more into video games.
This is one of the dumbest thing I have ever read, ever.
First off, that comment at the beginning of the story…talk about someone wanted to twist something. I don’t know where anyone got rape from that. Absolutely ridiculous.
And, no female protagonists in video games…hello? Tomb Raider is one of the most successful franchises in the history of the genre. And, only white guys? Um….GTA San Andreas anyone? And, depending on your definition of “white”, GTA Vice City. Two VERY successful games from, again, one of the most successful franchises of the genre. And, both of these franchises are far more successful than any cited in this idiotic piece.
A growing percentage of games allow you to make your own avatar. Since you create it, you get to choose any gender or skin color you want.
This story is yet another attempt by some half-assed, oft-unpublished writer just trying to sell a story by creating drama where none exists.
