Supreme Court expands state power over tribes

A dissent from nearly half the court says majority is giving into unlawful power grab that will harm tribal sovereignty

Limiting McGirt v. Oklahoma, the Supreme Court reinstated a state court conviction and allowed that the federal government and states have concurrent jurisdiction to prosecute crimes committed by non-Indians against Indians in Indian country.
