House adopts amendment to bar NSA encryption meddling

Barber votes against 'backdoor spying' measure; Grijalva supports it

An amendment designed to bar the National Security Agency from undermining encryption standards was approved by the House on a voice vote Thursday night. Another amendment, barring NSA "backdoor spying" via foreign databases, was opposed by Rep. Ron Barber and supported by Rep. Raul Grijalva.
