F-35 program may be unaffordable, auditor says

To wit, if there’s even a tid-bit of controversy amongst specialists and Generals about this new fighter (forget the government-proscribed manufacturer who’re in it for their own bucks), why is this program still on the platform? Notwithstanding the engine’s turbine-blade prob’s, let alone the fabulous sums of money to get this project off the ground, why does the US Gubmint keep hounding-out this lame dawg to the public??  We barely use our F-16s during interdiction (let alone dog-fights) over the continental US to protect US citizens from foreign invaders (did I say ‘barely’? ...how ‘bout NEVER! Even during 911 our fighters were 100 miles away from any interdiction!  and we need a brand-new multi-billion dollar fighter to fend-off what/who?  ...Central or South American insurgents?  a rogue C-131 gun-ship air-crew from disgruntled Africa?  a Spanish Armada?

I think we so-called American citizens need to stand up on our hind legs and QUESTION governmental decisions to spend other than our hard-earned tax dollars with what’s already in effect: ARMED DRONES. They’ve already been effective in several middle-east wars—with no pilot collateral. Yes, they could be even more effective with better s/w to prevent civilian collateral damage(!).  And, yes, we need more effective ‘radio-controllers’ who have them under their command.  But a brand-new, multi-billion dollar fighter? under human control? what’s the point? what other country has a singular counterpart(!)
