The Kaw Nation’s Sacred Red Rock, called 'I' ‘zhúje ‘waxóbe,' was a place of cultural ceremony and gathering for the Kaw people before their forced removal to Oklahoma in 1872. The stone, which was moved to Lawrence, Kansas, will soon be returned to ancestral homelands that the tribe has reclaimed.
