Gas prices are the greatest scam in the world. They somehow seem to be exempt from anti-trust laws…and there’s so many people in the chain that no one has to take the blame for anything. Anyone in the chain can just say “not my fault” and point the finger at another link in the chain, and no one is ever held accountable.

We’re always told “wah, hurricanes middle east war price of crude oil no new refineries falling dollar same old tired excuses blah blah blah”, yet every time the prices go up, so too does big oil’s profits.

Regular readers of my comments know I’m a capitalist…but I am also a strong supporter of anti-trust laws, and I am sick to death of the oil industry not having to follow those rules. Capitalism involves the laws of supply in demand. It’s been well publicized as of late that Americans’ oil usage is at a 15-year low. So…why is our oil prices at an all-time high (yes, even when adjusted for inflation)?

Well, I’ve had enough. If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em. Find yourself a mutual fund involving big oil. Latch on to their blatant price fixing and go along for the ride.
