Shake a leg New Year's Day and help walk shelter dogs

If you're a bit bleary-eyed on the morning of Jan. 1, why not have some hair of the dog? — real dogs, that is. The Pima Animal Care Center will host a bed build and dog walk on New Year's Day, followed by free adoptions.

You can help put together more than 60 elevated beds that were donated over Christmas, to help PACC expand their shelter.

With over 200 dogs, PACC needs help walking them and keeping the cats company.

"Just having a little kindness, attention and adventure helps give our pets a break from the routine of shelter life and helps them stay hopeful while they wait for new homes," said county spokeswoman Rhonda Bodfield.

The event runs10 a.m. until noon, followed by free adoptions until 3 p.m. There is a standard licensing fee of $15.

Those interested in attending can RSVP to jackdogneuman@gmail.com. For more information, visit the PACC website or call 243- 5900.
