Injured man rescued after being abandoned in desert

A summary of Border Patrol activities in the Tucson Sector since Tuesday, provided by U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

Arrests

Ajo Station agents apprehended six Mexicans near Santa Cruz on Tuesday. One of them admitted to being a Sureño 13 gang member. During a background check, agents found he was convicted of cocaine possession and spent three years in a California prison. He faces federal charges for illegal re-entry and removal.

Naco Station agents arrested a 36-year-old Mexican man Tuesday who was previously deported and convicted of endangering the welfare of a child under 17 in White Plains, N.Y. He was held on federal charges.

Rescue

Casa Grande Station agents rescued a 39-year-old Mexican man who had fallen, broken his legs and was abandoned by the group with whom he was traveling. Agents trained as EMTs treated him and he was taken to an area hospital.
