92-year-old killed after fall in front of truck

A 92-year-old Tucson man died when he was run over by a truck in a Southwest Side parking lot Wednesday morning. Jose Lopez fell in front of a truck, and was hit when the man behind the wheel of the vehicle began driving away without noticing Lopez was in front of him, authorities said.

The incident took place around 9 a.m. at a Circle K at 2840 W. Los Reales Road, said a Pima County Sheriff's Department spokesman.

Lopez was pronounced dead after being taken to Banner University Medical Center, said Deputy Ryan Inglett.

"The driver of the truck did not show signs of impairment and is not facing any charges at this time," Inglett said.
