Northbound I-19 on-ramp at Irvington set to close Jan. 2–14

The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to plan ahead for the closure of the northbound Interstate 19 on-ramp at Irvington Road and to be prepared to use an alternate route for about two weeks.

Contractors will be replacing a large underground pipe on the northbound side of I-19. Starting the night of January 2 , northbound traffic will be shifted to accommodate the work. Two lanes on I-19 in each direction will remain open throughout the construction. While the Irvington Road on-ramp is closed, motorists can use Valencia Road, Ajo Way, 12th Avenue or Mission Road as alternate routes.

The Ion-ramp is scheduled to reopen on January 15.

The work is part of the I-19 and Ajo Way traffic interchange project, which is now in its second and final phase.

Drivers are asked to use caution, obey posted speed limits and traffic control devices and use caution around construction personnel and equipment.
