Santa makes special furry delivery to Tucson family
HSSA pup finds new home with mom, 4 kids
Santa Claus made a special early delivery to one Tucson family — a furry friend called Samson.
Colleen Keefe and her four children adopted the 10-month-old terrior from the Humane Society of Southern Arizona, but were surprised when it was delivered to their home by the jolly man himself Wednesday, HSSA spokeswoman Lyndsay Bruno said.
The children were told Samson would have to stay overnight for a check-up before leaving the shelter, but mom Colleen kept the Santa surprise a secret, Bruno said.
“Santa is so cool. (Samson) is awesome and we think he is cute. We couldn’t wait for him to come home with us,” 11-year-old Kiley told the HSSA.
Samson is one of thousands of animals abandoned each year to the HSSA, the group said.
Bruno said the holidays can be a good time to adopt a pet, but only if the entire family is committed to the long-term responsibility of caring for the animal.
The HSSA is offering name-your-own adoption fees — a minimum of $10 — on dogs that are at least 5-months old and 25 pounds, Bruno said.
