Border Patrol agents intercepted nearly 500 pounds of marijuana, and arrested seven in a series of seizures over the weekend near Yuma, authorities said.

On Friday, agents arrested a U.S. citizen and three unauthorized immigrants in Dome Valley, part of an attempt to circumvent the checkpoint on Interstate 8, east of Yuma, said U.S. Customs and Border Protection in a news release.

The next day, an ultralight aircraft was detected dropping drugs north of Interstate 8 and the Imperial Sand Dunes before it returned to Mexico, the agency said.

Agents recovered around 226 pounds of marijuana, worth an estimated $113,000, the agency said.

On Sunday, agents assigned to Camp Grip, a forward operating base in the desert, arrested three men attempting to smuggle 270 pounds of marijuana, worth around $135,000.

All three men were unauthorized immigrants, the agency said.
