Illegal immigrant gets nearly 7 years in prison

A 30-year-old Mexican man was sentenced Friday to nearly seven years in prison for illegally entering the country, U.S. Customs and Border Protection said.

Federico Lopez Torres was apprehended by Border Patrol agents on March 18 by Nogales agents who found he had a record of human smuggling and illegal entry, CBP said. He was sentenced to 82 months in prison.

Following his sentence, Lopez will be formally removed from the country.
