BP agents find $1.4M worth of pot

Tucson Sector Border Patrol agents seized nearly 3,000 pounds of marijuana, worth an estimated $1.4 million, in the West Desert on Tuesday, U.S. Customs and Border Protection said.

Agents from the Ajo Station’s All-Terrain Vehicle unit tracked footprints to several bundles of marijuana hidden in brush. The marijuana weighed 1,508 pounds and was valued at $754,000.

In a separate incident Tuesday, Casa Grande Station agents and an Office of Air and Marine helicopter crew followed off-road tire tracks to an abandoned SUV concealed under a green tarp. Agents discovered more than 1,300 pounds of marijuana worth approximately $692,000 inside the vehicle.
