Pima County sheriff's deputies on look-out for Thanksgiving DUI offenders
The Pima County Sheriff's Department will step up enforcement of Arizona's drunk-driving laws this weekend.
In 2020, the Sheriff’s Department investigated 45 fatal collisions that occurred on Pima County roadways. Many of these incidents involve drivers who were impaired by drugs or alcohol, authorities said.
PCSD officials said they are committed to making Pima County roads safe for all drivers and will increase traffic enforcement efforts for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, Nov. 26 and Nov. 27, in what they describe as a "zero tolerance initiative." They will be using equipment obtained through grants from the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety.
