Town halls: Learn more about proposed Tucson sales tax bump

The city of Tucson is having a series of town halls this week and next to provide information and answer questions about a proposed half-cent municipal sales tax that may be approved in a May 2017 election.

The tax would provide money to continue repairing major and neighborhood city streets and finance equipment and facilities for the Tucson Police and Fire departments.

There will be a town hall in the city's Ward 4 starting at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Clements Recreation Center, 8155 E. Poinciana Drive.

Subsequent meetings will be:

  • Thursday, 5:30 p.m., Ward 6 office, 3202 E. 1st St.
  • Next Monday (Nov. 21), 5:30 p.m., El Pueblo Senior Center, 101 W. Irvington Rd.
