J.C. Scott: Az basketball lands 5-star recruit Stanley Johnson

On Friday's edition:

We started our show with Pat Darcy, who talked about his opinion piece in the Arizona Daily Star: "City needs change in direction." Darcy, who attempted to run for mayor in 2011 but didn't qualify for the ballot, addressed what he believes is a lack of leadership in city government and the business community.

20 min: We were then joined by Tucson Hispanic Chamber CEO Lea Marquez Peterson, who talked about bridging the gap for Latino students. She is alarmed that barely half of Arizona Hispanics have obtained a high school education. Latinos still continue to lag behind their white peers in high school graduation rates and overall academic performance. Marquez Peterson also took time to express her disappointment in Congress's inability to agree on comprehensive immigration reform.

40 min: Tucsoncitizen.com sportswriter Anthony Gimino shared the news that the Arizona Wildcats basketball team received a commitment from five-star wing Stanley Johnson. He also broke down Thursdayt's win over San Diego State (69-60). He finished with a preview of Saturday's football game against Washington State.

51 min: Next up was Inside Tucson Business Editor Mark B. Evans, who gave a review of this week's issues of the business publication.

90 min: We finished the show with state Sen. Linda Lopez (D-LD29), who recently accepted a position with the Easter Seals Blake Foundation as director of Children and Family Services. Lopez resigned her post in Senate Democratic leadership to take the position.
