Marana warning: 'Zombies ahead!'
Drivers north of Tucson were warned of lurking zombies over the weekend, thanks to an electronic road sign.
The Marana Police Department investigated the warning of the impending undead attack and discovered that someone had hacked into the highway electronic sign system.
"We didn't get any complaints or any other problems in the area... (and) no reports of zombies," Sergeant Chris Warren told Reuters. "Sometimes those boxes are just left open and if somebody knows how to do it they can just go over to it, open it up and just start typing."
The "Good Samaritan" who posted the alert was apparently in a hurry as the sign read, “Caaution Zombies ahead,” reported the Arizona Daily Star.
Area resident Dan Wolters first noticed the warning around 8 a.m. Sunday.
"I laughed," he said. "I'm sure people that drove by laughed, too."
