What's open, what's closed on Veterans Day

As the nation honors its veterans on Tuesday, many government services and private businesses will be closed. Here's what you need to know:

  • Post offices will be closed and mail will not be delivered.
  • Most banks will be closed.
  • City, county, state and federal offices, including courts, will be closed.
  • Local schools, the University of Arizona and Pima Community College will be closed.
  • The Pima County Public Library will be closed.
  • The Motor Vehicle Division will be closed; emissions testing stations will be open.
  • Sun Tran buses and shuttles will operate on a regular weekday schedule.
  • Sunlink streetcars will operate on a regular weekday schedule.
  • City and Waste Management trash collection will be delayed by one day this week.
  • County landfills will be closed. The city's Los Reales landfill will be open.
  • U.S. stock exchanges will be open, but bond markets will be closed.

Veterans Day parade

Tucson's parade will be held downtown beginning at 11 a.m., although streets will be closed in preparation beforehand:

Between 8 a.m and 1 p.m., West Alameda Street between Manning House Way and Church Avenue will be closed. Also, Church Avenue between Pennington Street and 6th Street/St. Mary’s Road; 6th/St. Mary’s between Stone Avenue and Granada Avenue; Franklin Street between Stone and Church; and Granada between Congress Street and 6th/Saint Mary’s will all be closed.
