Grijalva, Barber to join mayor at immigration reform review
Proponents of immigration reform will discuss the prospects for legislation at a symposium Monday night. U.S. Reps. Ron Barber and Raul Grijalva will join Mayor Jonathan Rothschild and a panel of experts to review the status of a comprehensive overhaul of immigration laws.
The free event will begin a 6:30 p.m. at the Berger Performing Arts Center, Arizona School for the Deaf and Blind, 1200 W. Speedway.
Rothschild will moderate a panel discussion by Jeanne Butterfield, special counsel with the Raben Group, Marshall Fitz, director of immigration policy at the Center for American Progress, and Benjamin Johnson, executive director of the American Immigration Council.
That presentation will be followed by a review by a panel of local political leaders, including Grijalva, Barber, Bisbee Mayor Adriana Z. Badal, Douglas Mayor Danny Ortega and others, as well as responses to written questions from the audience.
