An Arizona Department of Public Safety trooper inadvertently seized more than 2,600 pounds of marijuana Tuesday after he stopped a van on Interstate 19 north of Nogales.
At 10:40 p.m., a DPS trooper stopped a van traveling northbound on the interstate after the driver made an unsafe lane change, said a department spokesman.
The driver stopped his vehicle, and immediately ran into a "wooded area" near the highway and was not caught, the spokesman said.
Inside the van, state troopers found 129 bales of marijuana, worth an estimated $929,250, he said.
