Agents find 680 lbs. of marijuana stashed in backpacks near Yuma

Border Patrol agents from the Yuma Sector found 14 backpacks in two different incidents containing around 680 pounds of marijuana worth an estimated $340,000, according to a release from the agency.

On Saturday, agents assigned to the forward operating base in the desert known as Camp Grip discovered nine makeshift backpacks made from camouflaged fabric.

The backpacks contained a combined total of 483 pounds of marijuana worth an estimated $241,500.

Yesterday, agents stumbled upon five more backpacks of marijuana while tracking a group of suspected smugglers. The makeshift packs held a combined 197 pounds of marijuana worth around $98,500.
