Deputies: Tucson mom shot by toddler

A woman was shot in the arm at her home southwest of Tucson on Monday as she tried to take a handgun from her two-year-old child, authorities said. She was taken to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

The woman, who was not identified, tried to take the handgun after the toddler picked it up, a Pima County Sheriff's Department spokesman said. She was shot once in her arm.

The incident happened in a home on West Copperwood Way, near West Valencia and South Camino Verde roads, in a residential development east of Ryan Field.

Further details were not yet available.
