American arrested for human smuggling

Arrests

Willcox Station agents arrested a 34-year-old U.S. citizen Thursday night at the S.R. 90 checkpoint for attempting to smuggle two illegal immigrants into the United States. The pair was discovered in the trunk of her vehicle and both admitted to being in the country illegally. They said they had been in the trunk for more than an hour without food, water or light. The driver and passengers were transported to the station for processing. The driver was held for prosecution.

On Wednesday, Willcox agents apprehended a 33-year-old Mexican man who illegally entered the United States. During processing, agents discovered he has misdemeanor convictions in Hastings, Minn., for criminal sexual conduct, domestic assault, and driving while intoxicated. He was previously removed from the U.S. through Del Rio, Texas. He was held for prosecution.

Rescue

Willcox Station agents responded to a report Thursday of two women lost in the desert without food or water. Agents found the women who admitted to entering the United States illegally. One was taken to a local medical facility to be treated for advanced dehydration. The other woman was transported to the station for processing and removal.
