The governor discussed the federal government shutdown and its effect on the state economy, efforts to open the Grand Canyon, the lawsuit challenging Medicaid expansion, her order to welfare officials to use state funds to restore assistance to thousands of families who lost aid due to the shutdown, the projected $1.2 billion budget surplus and education funding.
